THE YUKON TAVERN

Situated on the street-facing exterior patio, the piece merged my ongoing interest in ephemeral materials and architectural surfaces.
Central to the work is the diaper weave pattern, a textile structure historically used for its absorbency and durability. With utilitarian roots in the domestic sphere, the weave carries quiet associations of care, repetition, and purpose. Transposed onto the façade of a public bar, the pattern takes on new resonance: the bar, too, is a place of routine - where lives intersect in practical, sometimes tender, ways.
The work temporarily inscribed itself onto the tavern’s façade - intervening, weathering over time, then eventually disappearing.
