500 White Rectangles on a Parking Garage is an extension of 3000 Yellow Rectangles on a Parking Garage. Both installations activate utilitarian architecture to create dialogues with building structural systems. In this work, the rectangular modules disrupt the typical order and function of the cinder block construction, while the folds of the garage doors are emphasized with graphic clarity.
Though the symbols themselves are entirely invented, the kerning evokes the familiarity of recognition to create an ALMOST-LANGUAGE.
Soliloquy Fine Arts is an art gallery run by Ruth Meijer in Portland, Oregon. The installation was unveiled in conjunction with a pop-up film screening on July 20th.
